Though technology and computer usage have become increasingly integrated into nearly every aspect of teaching and learning across educational settings, there are still concerns and issues that need to be addressed. For instance, as technology has evolved, new genres of software applications have also appeared, such as Web 3.0, Blockchain, AI, mobile applications, AI, virtual/augmented reality simulations, and educational games. Furthermore, changes in technology have also resulted in changes in the nature of internet use, creating many different new online social media platforms, the continued expansion of publicly available educational resources, and changes in how we create and interact with digital media from the elementary to the postsecondary levels. Educational practices have changed very rapidly, and teachers and educational stakeholders are struggling to catch up.
What is currently missing, though, is a research center in RIT Dubai Campus that explores how technology has and continues to shape formal and informal learning contexts across higher education levels and disciplines, as well as begin to develop innovative solutions that meet the educational needs of today and tomorrow.
